  • Charles Has anyone viewed the video link about Plane Spotters?  At our local airport people take pictures and movies all the time and I have never seen an officer pull a gun and put people on the ground.  And I think even I know the difference between a shoulder mounted missile and a camera.  Curious where these events took place.

  • RAF Museum London

    Posted June 14, 2010

This week, the weather in London was forecast to be lousy (big suprise there).  We, the Captain and I,  had heard about this RAF Museum just an hours ride on the tube to the North of London.  I googled it and got a small taste of their collection plus operating hours and directions.&#...

The spreading oil slick made the water look very odd, almost like strands of blood, and shimmering. The columns of smoke rising where crews struggled to contain the massive spill by burning off areas of floating crude lifted straight up into the afternoon sky were certainly out of ...

Sorry I have not posted much in the past month or so.   My work schedule has been pretty mundane going between Sao Paulo, LAX or Heathrow. So, at the risk of being redundant, I opetd to keep quiet until I had something interesting to offer.   Last week I had the opportunity to spend a ...

I-O, I-O, it's off to work I go!!! As I type this I am back in the cabin eating lunch and the Captain and F/O are up front minding the store. We just crossed over Cuba heading south towards Venezuela. Our destination this afternoon is Sao Paulo, Brazil, a total route distance...

London Calling!!! Remember that song by the Clash? For a slight change of scenery I was able to trade my Sao Paulo on Monday night for a London Heathrow (LHR) on Sunday. It pays a couple of hours extra(longer flight times) and gets back home earlier so I can be home for dinner. I had not been ac...

Hello everyone! I am Tony. I guess I should have done this earlier but Jason asked me to do a blog about airline flying, so I have spent some time on that. My passion for flying started in my youth, as most of us I guess. I have been working for a part 121 carrier going on 23 years. I spent 21 years in the Air Guard and Air Force Reserve and had the opportunity to fly both fighters and transports. During my airline career I spent a few years as a 757/767 and 737 Captain, which was someplace I never thought I'd be when I was younger! Currently I am in the right seat of a 777 enjoying the advantages of seniority but lesser financial reward. The industry has been undergoing some fundamental changes some good, most (in my opinion) bad and though I have enjoyed my career I have a hard time encouraging anyone to follow my footsteps. I'd be happy to discuss anything flying with any of you-
